Where to Stay in Alcoy for Three Kings: The Best Hotels for Spain's Oldest Cabalgata

4 min read

Alcoy's Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos on January 5 is the oldest Three Kings parade in Spain, and it's nothing like the candy-throwing parades in most towns. Pages climb tall ladders to deliver gifts through balconies, the whole town turns out, and the night ends with the Kings at Plaza de España. It's one of the best family traditions in the country.

Alcoy is a working mountain town, not a resort, so the hotel list is short and the best rooms go early for January 5. That's the main thing to know: book as soon as your dates are set, and if the centre is full, look at the country houses in the hills just outside town.

Alcoy doesn't have a five-star hotel, so instead of padding the list, here are the four best options for Three Kings, chosen for different travelers and different priorities.

Best Location: Sercotel Ciutat d'Alcoi

This 4-star hotel on Calle Colón is the most comfortable full-service hotel in the centre of Alcoy, with 84 rooms and the old town and parade route within walking distance.

On parade night, being able to walk home matters more than anything. Streets close, parking disappears and the crowds are thick, so a central hotel means you can stay for the very end and stroll back to your room.

Best Value: Hostal Savoy

Hostal Savoy is a simple, central guesthouse with 21 rooms and some of the lowest rates in town. It's family-friendly, a favorite for Alcoy's big festivals, and puts you in the middle of things without paying hotel prices.

Rooms are basic, so think of it as a place to sleep between the parade and breakfast. For a one-night Three Kings trip, that's often all you need.

Best for Families: Hotel Reconquista

Hotel Reconquista is a 3-star hotel by the Puente de San Jorge, about an 8-minute walk from Plaza de España. Its big selling point for families is room size: there are rooms with three and four single beds, cots on request and a lower breakfast rate for kids.

It also has a small amount of on-site parking, which is gold on January 5. Reserve it with your room, because it fills fast.

Luxury and Most Unique: Masía La Mota

Masía La Mota is a restored country house on the road up to the Font Roja natural park, just outside town. It has only 12 rooms, including two suites, plus a pool and gardens set in the hills, and it's the most characterful place to stay around Alcoy.

Being outside town means you'll drive in for the parade, so arrive early and park on the edge of the centre. In exchange, you get quiet mornings in the mountains and an easy start for a walk in the Font Roja on January 6.
